changing nicknames - Printable Version

my friend says that when she trys and puts colour in her nickname if she uses the /nick command, it says some along the lines of "cant change it with this version of msn" and if she tries to copy and paste it into the nickname window, it says "invalid name"

her versions are
Windows Version: Windows XP, 5.01.2600
Messenger Client Version: 7.0.0425
Messenger Plus! Version: 3.40.0107

Let her get the newest Plus beta (3.40.112). Also make sure she puts a <space> after the nick command before hitting ctrl+k. Copy and paste will never work.

Thats exactly same as mine. Mine used to give an error that the command is not valid. But sorted that out.

I dunno if u need a pulgin or something for the ctrl+k function but mabbe thats the prob. Or she could just uninstall plus and reboot then reinstall plus. Mabbe even download a new file of plus! and then try it cause 4 me the installer gave an error but when i redownloaded it, it worked. So try that. Mabbe it'll work

No you don't need a plugin to use ctrl+k. All that is needed is that it's enabled in Plus > Preferences > Instant messages > Commands and tags (tab).."enable multi format IRC style shortcuts"

The "invalid name" is because of copying and pasting. MSN itself doesn't recognize the colorcodes, you need to go through Plus! for it.

The /nick feature doesnt work in .107, it was fixed in .108 so just update to the .112 version.
