Phtoshop questions by The_Thief on 02-03-2005 at 05:00 PM

I am using photoshop 6.0

1) How can I create a border around a picture?
2) How do I cut it so it's in an oval shape?

thanks

hmm, the easiest way to creat a border would be to open a new document and create it in there. Make it transparent and everything, you can then drag it over to the other picture.

If you want to have an oval, I think that you should have the border, with whatever coloured background, draw an oval using the circle tool, then make that circle transparent, drag it over, and the picture will be in the middle or whatnot...

Didn't work... Just tried it...

Select the whole image (Ctrl + A)

EDIT >> STROKE

Size of pixel - 1px (or a higher number if you want a darker border)

This is the method I always use since PS6.
(I have PS8)

now what about oval shape?

OVAL SHAPE

A way to do it is..
1.)  Go to the 'marquee' tools (the dotted shape tools), right click on
them and go to circle..

2.)  Go to 'Style' at the top toolbar. (Should be a dropdown)
Chose 'Fixed size' and change width and heights.  (Width should be a smaller pixel number than height to make an oval)

OR the easier way is just to make a oval by dragging the circle
marquee tool... then go to EDIT >> STROKE
