Plus! & MD by linx05 on 02-16-2005 at 03:39 AM

Hi guys. I have Messenger Discovery installed. Now, when I use Personalised Status, and go away with a message, I get interference with both programs. When a user opens my window or something, it appears in the conversation window. Plus! replies with my away answer. Is there any way we can get around this? Because it can be pretty annoying sometimes. Whose fault is it?

p.s I posted this in both this forum and Messenger Discovery's forum.

its not MsgPlus! it could be StuffPlug-NG
and it cant be any of the addons/plugins fault as they dont control the msn protocols and what your contacts do!

What I mean is, in MD I have "Server closed chat session" option ticked. Now after a while when the server closes the connection, MD kicks in and says it has been closed.

Now, does Plus! see that message MD has put into the conversation as a message from the contact, thus sending them the away message?

Edit: I just did a test. I put myself in away mode and opened a window to someone. Said hi then left it. Here are the results:

Aaron says:
hey
Sarah says:
hi
Server closed chat session.
Aaron auto-message: Gone to work.
Sarah closed your conversation window.

I know it is. But that isn't what my post was about. It is about Plus! sending my away message to the user even when they haven't said anything.

I think it works by sending the message when something is said, even when it comes from your computer, so the Messenger Discovery message will trigger the away message.

TGG is right. Plus responds on the receipt of an IM, no matter where it's from. It's something you'll have to live with I'm afraid, unless Patchou and ecko_complex collaborate to rectify the problem.

Yeah I know. It is pretty annoying because it looks like you are sending your contact your away message. They don't know why they got it. I hope it can be fixed one day...

Hum... I see what problems you're having... there may be ways to fix it, however, I think that this feature of MD cannot work with MSN Messenger 7 so I guess upgrading to the new Messenger will solve the problem one way or the other :p (of course, I could be completely wrong about this and if I am, let me know..)

So what i understand is... Plus will send your away message, because the MD Proxy sends you an "instant message" that looks like it came from your contact (when your contact closes the window.)

Well, maby Plus could ignore messages from MD, or MD could send a different signal then a message...

From what I know, the open conversation notifier isn't going to be in MSN 7. I'm pretty sure the other features will be in there. Anyone from MD knows if the other notifiers will be in there?
