Free FTP program by Sunshine on 02-22-2005 at 09:13 PM

I know it's a lil bit advertising but i didn't wanna keep this from you all (might be usefull).

Today Fresh FTP has been released (100% free, no charge, no banners, no spyware).

Thanks Sunshine! :D

You use stuff from FreshDevices/FreshWebmaster too? :o

That's cool. I've been using FreshDownload (beats DAP all the way!) since a few weeks ago. (Y) So all the cash they might get it from their website's ads.

I'll try FreshFTP now, let's see if it beats SmartFTP. :o

RE: Free FTP program by ayjay on 02-23-2005 at 08:10 AM

Yay! Another FreshDevices program to add to my collection :P

I've been looking for another FTP prog actually. Thanks :)

RE: Free FTP program by _Humphreys on 02-23-2005 at 08:24 AM

I used to use WS FTP Pro but you had to pay for that. 8-) This seems great thanks I am going to download it later. :D

RE: Free FTP program by John Anderton on 02-23-2005 at 09:04 AM

Carltos: I had WS_FTP (Home) but the trial was untill March 1st. so it came at the right time :D installed it yesterday and it's just as good imo.

You need to fill in everything correctly and ofcourse give it permission to go on the net (firewallwarning or manually):P
Look at how they did in example thats shown when you click connect:

Filling in server, username and password will do (not anonymous..uncheck that). Filling in just that did for me.
RE: Free FTP program by John Anderton on 02-23-2005 at 01:17 PM

I put in server name, user name and password. I didnt know what port so i left it at 21 and i kept the remote directory blank as i wanted to go to the root directory of my host.
Still it sayz that the password is wrong. It isnt :undecided:

Filling in just that should do. You sure you didn't use caps by mistake (where you shouldn't) or make the slightest typing mistake in the password?

Nope i checked it 3 times :undecided:
RE: Free FTP program by Sunshine on 02-23-2005 at 02:01 PM

In username you need to put the @mycompany.com too if it's cpanel (i have too aswell). Really it works like any other FTP program, if you fill in everything as you do in others it works.

RE: Free FTP program by John Anderton on 02-23-2005 at 04:02 PM

I think my server is kinda under maintainance. This happens once a month. Last time it happened towards the end of jan and then now. Its only for about 6 - 8 hours. Last time my mysql database was not working and this time my ftp connection isnt. I tried with 3 ftp softy's. So its a server / my connection prob (I think server)

RE: Free FTP program by WDZ on 02-23-2005 at 04:08 PM

Hmm... the screenshot looks pretty nice and clean... I'm tempted to give it a try even though I don't need a new FTP client. :p

Does it have many advanced features/options, or is it pretty simple? The web site seems to contain only one paragraph about it. :-/

RE: Free FTP program by Eljay on 02-23-2005 at 04:30 PM

its a nice and simple FTP prog but im going to stick with FlashFXp because it has a built in text/file editor :pound:

RE: Free FTP program by GiantSpider on 02-23-2005 at 04:30 PM

SmartFTP

RE: Free FTP program by Sunshine on 02-23-2005 at 05:29 PM

The options menu:

I agree there's not much said about it on the site. Lets just say it's a simple program, it does what it has too :D

If anything else just ask, i'll make every screenshot desired.

RE: Free FTP program by user27089 on 02-23-2005 at 05:46 PM

It seems like a really good ftp program and there isn't many downsides to it, but it needs to improve more, become more like CuteFTP etc.

RE: Free FTP program by L. Coyote on 02-23-2005 at 07:56 PM

It has a queue list at the bottom, so you can upload many files to a place.

It's kind of different from SmartFTP. You have to be on the remote directory you want to upload to, when adding a local file on the queue.

Whereas in SmartFTP you can select some files in the queue list and drag them to the destination remote directory.

RE: Free FTP program by John Anderton on 02-24-2005 at 09:02 AM

It has a nice queue column below like cuteftp. But the main reason i like cuteftp that it has an internal editor (like notepad) which it uses to open all files so i save time. I am currently using Coreftp but when i edit files with it, it loads the system default editor :undecided:
Like for php it is dreamworks (By default when i installed it) so i have to wait for it to load :(
Does freshftp have an internal editor ? I'll need to check :)
* John Anderton installs and opens the proggy
* John Anderton connects to his host
* John Anderton finds no edit option :undecided:

RE: Free FTP program by aNILEator on 02-24-2005 at 11:28 AM

Fire FTP is found here - http://fireftp.mozdev.org/

It has screenshot and description I think its very cool for a firefox extension and its only 60KB

EDIT: and its open source!

RE: Free FTP program by Purity on 02-24-2005 at 01:54 PM

mmmm, Maxthon has a built in FTP browser and shiz....
