No sound on computer. by banky on 02-27-2005 at 04:18 AM

Well today I noticed I had no sound on my computer so I went to my start bar and looked over by the clock and seen my volume speaker was gone so I went to my computer-->Control Panel---> Multimedia.
When I opened that  all the options are greyed out so I figured hmm.. It needs to be reinstalled so I then went to My Computer--> Control Panel--->Add new hardware and its not listed in there anywhere to get reinstalled or installed.. By anychane can anyone tell me how to reinstall just my sound  not have to reformat or reinstall windows completly.

Im running on Windows98.

The Don.

RE: No sound on computer. by Caboose on 02-27-2005 at 06:11 AM

You could try going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com. If it asks you to install something, click Yes (it's safe), then choose 'Custom Installation' and let it scan your computer. It should find that you don't have any sound drivers installed; just click the appropriate category on the left and install it.

I had similar problems and this fixed it every time.
