You want to zoom in and watch people in their houses...? :undecided:

If thats what your saying, it's illegal and an invasion of privacy

Search Google for more...

Those sites are not up-to-date... it's impossible for regular people to get current satellite photos of any location they want. You'd have to be a company or agency with the required access/authorization/technology/money, and even then it would probably be difficult, because there are a limited number of satellites, and each camera can only be looking at one place at a time. :-/

Also, you can't really zoom in on people's houses. At best, you can identify each house, but the satellites typically don't zoom in enough to get any details. Here's an example of a standard satellite photo of a city zoomed in as much as possible without losing quality...

You can identify a house if you know where to look, but there are no details at all. :p

That's nice, but keep in mind that it's a large city, and there tend to be more detailed photos available for "areas of interest" like that. In fact, there's a list of cities for which high-res images are available: http://www.keyhole.com/body.php?c=popup&h=home&t=faqHome#seeMyHouse

Also note that it says "USA cities are updated every two to three years on average," so the images still aren't current. :p

US is the only country which has high def pics. All other countries look bad when you zoom in.

I like looking at the white house :P

The Netherlands has one high def pic, it's the center of Amsterdam :-)

Sandly, my house is just out of the high-def area :(

RE: satallite photos by Menthix on 02-28-2005 at 06:18 PM

I saw a cool site a few years ago, you colud fly over the entire Netherlands in sattelite photo's. It was Java Applet based and very cool. They had USA in their database too.

Not that much detail, but enoug to find my own house and follow the train rails and some streets to my friend's house which lives a few cities away. Can't remember URL anymore, not even sure it still exsists :s.

It was something like http://www.terrafly.com/ maybe it is even the same, but can't find the Netherlands on their site :(.

EDIT: Found it! http://www.terradesk.nl/ (IE only / ActiveX instead of JavaApplet, but sure fun for Dutchies)
* Menthix goes install.

Well no, and the images are - as said - not current. They are a few years old.
