Error 80072efd by Tuxman on 03-04-2005 at 10:43 PM

Hi,
I get the following error when I try to connect to MSN:

quote:
---------------------------
MSN Messenger (BETA)
---------------------------
Sorry, we were unable to sign you in to the MSN Messenger (BETA) at this time. Please try again later.  80072efd
---------------------------
Wiederholen   Abbrechen   Hilfe

I got this since a few days... Trillian doesn't work either...
"e-Messenger" does, by the way.

Anyone got an idea?

Which MSN Messenger Version are you using? Have you tried downgrading to the Public release of MSN Messenger 7 if you are using a leaked beta?

My friend had this problem and he fixed it.
On the main MSN window go to tools, options, connections tab and untick the "I use a proxy server box".  Then try signing in.

I'm using MSN7... the Public Beta worked for a long time, but now it doesn't anymore... the newest beta doesn't work either.

@monster.rat:
I can't find this option. :(

RE: Error 80072efd by Shineworks on 11-30-2007 at 03:57 PM

I am another victim of 80072efd and tried all of the steps recommended by your members to remove the problem. None seemed to work. In the end I tried removing my wireless card, restarting the computer without it. I then logged out again, inserted my card and turned on. To my surprise, I was desperate at this point, the problem was fixed.

What a nightmare!![size=2][font=Times New Roman]

Hello everyone
I had the same problem as well but I figured out that the msn files has something wrong with it
it's not your computer

you need to download Messenger 8.5 Beta
which you can download here

http://www.mediafire.com/?cbxxjnmjmvb

you need to have WinRAR to extract the files as well as get rid of the your old messenger

Hope all you you can fix it~

disable all proxy and security settings.
after you sign in successefully u can enable them again.
ANtivirus, personal firewall, windows firewall, Proxy client (such as ISA)
disable them all. or you can try troubleshoting by urself trying to disabling them one by one coz all these may cause you these errors.
If you have NOD32 antivirus just disable the personal firewall, antivirus temporaly
