windows messenger is not opening by MSN on 03-06-2005 at 07:48 AM
Hi All,
I have the windows messenger 5.1 and it is not opening, it looks like it is opening by looking the busy cursor, cant see the window???
What is the problem and how to rectify it???

Windows messenger cant be unnisntalled but you can find stuff on the web that will do the trick..

you can use the attached to disable Messenger. but you can remove it, and reinstall it threw that. it should be fixed then.
can i suggest you move over to MSN Messenger?

ye well I think there is a way to get it off by an internet app,
but I agree with lylesback2 , Msn Messenger would be a good
idea

I'm using Msn Messenger also, but i would like to use it sometimes, so when i tried to open it , it is not.. please help to fix it.

Use this command and that should remove windows messenger:
Goto Start click Run. In the Run box enter in the following string:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Then just download Windows Messenger again. The other thing you could try to do is press CTRL + ALT + DEL and see if windows messenger is running as a process in the background if it is just close it and try to open it.

I removed 4.7 and tried to install 5.1, then i got a window saying repair and remove, where remove is disabled.... then i tried repair,
got the following error
"A network error occured while attempting to read from the file c:\messenger51.msi"
any help?
