Google Desktop Search Plugin by Barrytje on 03-08-2005 at 03:32 PM

Google's Desktop Search 1.0 has been recently released and there are already a couple of plugins for it, but is it possible to search password encrypted chatlogs, using a plugin wherein you enter your password?

There are already plugins for trillian and mIRC, and this should be a very handy feature, this will make it a lot easier to search in your chatlogs (If i am looking for something, and you don't know in which month you said it or tho who you said it, you have to go through alot of files, for example)

yea i was looking at the Google Desktop plugins, but i think if anyone makes this plugin it would have to be Patchou, as I don't think anyone else knows hwo to 'decrypt' them.

But i think it could be useful to have a plugin to search unencrypted chat logs, i know they're only text files and will be included in searches anyway, but it would be good to be able to specify to only search thru chat logs.

Edit: Whoops, didn't read very good, so forget that I said this :$

So someone probably should have to make a plugin for this filetype that can easily decript the files to search them. Is there nobody else who can decrypt these files, except Patchou. With the password, that shouldn't be too difficult?

if you read my post, it says that only Patchou would be able to decrypt the chat logs as no-one else knows how to do it (I assume).

Also i said search unencrypted chat logs are just text files

Hey,

Sorry to bring this back from the dead... but is this likely to happen? Would be very useful if it did...

Thanks

I'm sorry but the only person that can help you in this regard is Patchou (As he is the only one that knows the encoding of the file). Please wait patiently and i'll direct Patchou towards this thread at the next opportunity he isn't busy :)

Patchou isn't only the person who knows how to decrypt the files. It's practically open source.

solus has published the file format, source code for utilising it, and a working encryption and decryption utility.
