(Note: this problem was originally described in http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=39466, but since no solution was given there, I will try my luck)


First some stats:

Windows: Windows XP, 5.01.2600
Messenger: 6.2.0205
Messenger Plus!: 3.50.0122 (latest beta afaik)

Until now, I was using version 0.7.39 without any problems. It worked fine.

Recently, I've found screenshots lying around that show a different interface than the one I recognized. I figured there must be a newer version, and went to the site (www.stuffplug.com). Downloaded latest version - StuffPlug-NG 2.1.243 - And when installing I get a weird message:



Choosing "yes" (left button), just closes the installer. Choosing "no" begins the installation process, but gets stuck about half-way through, with the file sp.ico. The progress bar just goes crazy, and the installer sticks with the same file, without moving. The only way to close the installer is through Task Manager.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing StuffPlug, with no luck. I've also tried un-installing Plus! completely and re-installing - again, that didn't work.

I hope someone here could help me solve this issue, as I really want to use the newest version. I've heard it has more features and is more stable.

I don't think it's allowed to use that beta afaik. But do you have installed other plugins? For example, Screenshot sender 3 with StuffPlug-NG 2.1 crashed. So, disable/uninstall other plugins and then try again. Also install SPNG again without any additional plugins with it!

Im haveing some minor problems with 3.50.123a, so you cannot exclude anything

the latest one is only for the latest beta of msn messenger. some features didnt work on the latest beta, so TB had to make some adjustments download the one before that one.

I think you have to setup your firewall to allow StuffPluf-NG through to install.
I said no when my firewall first alerted me, an the installation got stuck half way through.
I didn't want any of the plug-ins so i thought it would be ok.
After i setup my firewall to allow StuffPlug-NG through it installed fine.

This may not be the problem you have. I hope it helps though.

i ve got the exact same problem but i ve got no firewall, im just behind an unconfigurable proxy (http isa server i think)
anyone got an idea ? :'o(

I have this same installation problem on my main computer. I have tried installing it while connected to my router, also tried directly connecting to my cable modem while allowing all connections to stuffplug through my software firewall (Norton Internet Security 2005), and have also tried disabling the software firewall altogether. All had the same result, which was posted above. However, and this is the weird part, I was able to install stuffplug without any problems on my other computer which is connected wirelessly via the router. That computer also has a software firewall, but it uses ZoneAlarm. It seemed kind of weird that I had no problems connecting through the router with firewall enabled, but I can't connect while running naked through my modem.

But I'm at a loss as to what it could be. So I guess I'm without stuffplug and my precious dp stealer till this is resolved / worked around

Okay, can we have a few stats about you.. such as OP system... Plus Version.. Stuff Plug version (you want to install)

I've got the same problem
I disabled my firewall completely but it stays on sp.ico
So i tried leaving firewall on and making it an exception which i obviously should of done first but it still doesn't work! Garr!
HELP!
