Virus? by The Napster on 03-14-2005 at 05:30 PM

Sometimes I get a file with a random name, but all of them are 17KB, I get this at random times. And everytime I ask my friend whos sending this file, none answers.

I havent taken the file, anyways im always carfull, even if they're friends.

Could it be a virus?
I would accept it maybe, if my F-Secure antivir wouldn't say that my virus definitions are 7 days behind, although i updated, and it says succesfull. :wall:

Also anyone else get this budypic crap which says like "Join Budypic" and a link when a contact opens a window with you?

Yes that is defenatly a virus.

The obvious signs:
* random dodgy names
* recieving it at random times
* always same small size (17KB)
* no extension given in the filename
* the icon picture
* the small shortcut arrow on the icon picture (indicating PIF)
* nobody answers your comments
* getting that budypic crap which says like "Join Budypic" and a link when a contact opens a window with you

That isn't strange at all. Remember that an anti-virus is not a holy grale! They make mistakes too and they don't know every virus or variant either, especially dodgy macro-virusses made by stupid script kiddies...
