I was reading through the forums and noticed that a lot of people join, post a question then never use their acount again...

To save 'space' would it be possible to create a forum section (moderated of course) [i think there can be an option to check posts before they actually do get posted] where the 'one time users' can just post a quick question?

What do others think?

Yay or nay?

Unless you live 24/7 on the forums, that would be crazy to do (moderate each post). Keep in mind that there are 1000+ registrations per month (that means, no registrations => more posts)

Edit: picked the wrong option

I also think that it would be a completely stupid idea, surely by doing so, it would increase the amount of spam/advertising or whatever on the forums, it would be a possible threat or something, it will never be added to this board, wdz isn't naive...

true, but they could also join on IRC in that case or mailing someone from the forum (emails are often listed in sigs) or using the shoutbox or whatever. There are always channels to go to...

I dont think so cause no regged posting = more spam, adverts and possible malacious or whatever attatchments. Also the regged ppl's ip is logged so i think we ought to be a bit more safe that way :P
If u introduce this then there could be a lot of flaws and problems.

Mabbe we could prune accounts if the post count is less than 10 and if the account is not used for a year ........ (I tht that was long enough but 6 - 8 months would do i guess) and mabbe before pruning a small email wouldnt hurt  And mabbe even an email after the prunage

I think it would be a good idea. So what if people spam it? If guests can only post in one part of the forum, will it really matter? I think not :dodgy:
