Configuring Gmail with MsgPlus! 3.50 POP3 by robochief on 03-17-2005 at 04:59 AM

Well, I suppouse I done it correctly, but I still can't seem to check my Gmail account through MsgPlus! 3.50.124's POP3.

How I configured it in the preferences:

Than, I press the 'Test Settings...' button, and it remains in:

After a while, the next window appears:

WHAT'S WRONG?

I have no problem with it here. I have been using it since the beginning of the beta.

All of your settings look to be in the right order. Make sure in your GMail account you have enabled POP3 checking.

And just in case anyone will ask it, yes, I have enabled POP3 in my Gmail account's options.

By the way, THESE are the instructions described by Gmail to configure POP3 access.

An official thread about the Limitations of Gmail with the new msgplus can be found here :)

I had the same problem as OP did - it works now, and I haven't changed anything. Apparently, GMail needs a little time to process your request to enable POP. It took about 10 minutes for me (I had sent myself a new mail and didn't open it, and the "You have 1 new mail" popup appeared after a while).

[Edit]
My settings:
Email Address: .....@gmail.com
Server: pop.gmail.com
Port: 995
Username: .....@gmail.com
Password: .....
Requires SSL: [x]

Even if it now does work for me, it's useless unless it states how many unread new messages you have (at least in my case).

Read the sticky message about the limitations of Gmail pop3 checking within Plus! at the very top in the "help & support" forum (searching first would have relvealed it ;)): "MsgPlus! 3.50 Pop3 Gmail Limitations"...

I just try it with my gmail, auto check delay means what and it seems much lousier than gmail notifier.

Is the account 1 will be use if only I login to my msn with my gmail?

"The server couldn't be contacted" can be due to Gmail server temporarily unreachable, don't get too alarmed about it when it happens when you click on "test", just try again later.

It is the interval (in minutes) when Plus! requests a total of unread mail from the accounts you've set. If new mail has arrived, Plus! will show a popup.

It is certainly not lousier. Messenger Plus! sticks to the POP3 protocol, but Gmail doesn't. Plus! can't do anything about that. And it would be inpractical to implement a workaround and other special things especially for each and every POP3 server which doesn't stick to the protocol...

You might wanna read: "MsgPlus! 3.50 Pop3 Gmail Limitations"

Gmail's notifier is especially made for Gmail, nothing more.

No it can't :p   -   The specified thread does not exist.
That thread was the first one, it has been replaced with "MsgPlus! 3.50 Pop3 Gmail Limitations" ;)
