Stuffplug question by Graeme777 on 03-22-2005 at 12:17 AM

:^) Hey all,
I'd like to be able to talk to people while I "Appear Offline". Found a thread on Mess.be that suggested Stuffplug allowed this.. but it doesn't seem to. Do I need a beta version or does anyone know a plugin that contains this feature. Thanks in advance people.

you can appear offline, while talking to BLOCKED contacts using the latest stuffplug ng :)

*note that your status can not be offline in order for you talk to your blocked contacts

Edit: they will see you as being offline while you talk to them though

sorry if i'm confusing :undecided:

Thanxs Joa,
That sounds a little complicated.. you mean that I have to block someone to be able to chat to them in the "Appear Offline" mode..i think? However I want to appear offline to everyone and still be able to start a conversation with anyone.. there's sure to be a way to do it.. waddya reckon? *-) Basically want full stealth mode.. can it be done?;)

Nope, there's no way that you can Appear Offline and talk to your contacts, you have to block them

But if you want to block all your contacts, put in a conversation window /blockgrp so you would block all your contacts and appear offline :P

Ok, guess that's one way around it.. but still leaves me visibly signing in to start the conversation.. thus stealth mode is utterly compromised. Do you know if what I want is actually possible or whether the protocol makes it impossible ? Thanks for the quick feedback by the way.. :)

Log in appearing offline, use my Block All Plugin, Have Stuffplug Talked to blocked people option enabled, go online, and you are in complete steath mode!!! :D...

Sorted.. plugin works a charm.. thanks very much ;)

but no image for the person i chat to... and no cam or audio :(

well if your "offline" you can't view those. If StuffPlug didn't allow talking to blocked contacts you couldn't even type to them!

Why are you so desperate to hide from everyone anyway lol?

Not that I am antisocial.. just want to be able to chat to an individual when I have little time without the others thinking I'm ignoring them. Just politeness really, you wouldn't walk past a friend in the street and just ignore them.. they might be offended..even if you were in a hurry. Don't need to use it all the time..:D.

umm its not like this.. when you blocked them, you'll appear offline to THEM, but you're actually online to all UNBLOCKED contacts. When you're offline, there is no way you can talk to anyone. As suggested, maybe you have to use the new block all contacts to appear offline to everyone. I hope this clears some misunderstanding.
