How do you adjust the colour because for some reason the white is to bright.

RE: I bought a monitor by blackjack on 03-27-2005 at 02:41 AM

Something like that

RE: I bought a monitor by mwe99 on 03-27-2005 at 02:53 AM

Try downing the contrast too.. make sure it's at a level where you don't strain your eyes

RE: I bought a monitor by The_Thief on 03-27-2005 at 02:59 AM

What is the safest refresh rate for this type of monitor?

RE: I bought a monitor by mwe99 on 03-27-2005 at 03:03 AM

Check in product specification from either your user manual or on a website :)   It says 60Hz so i wouldn't go any higher incase it becomes damaged

Turn the backlight down (in-built buld brightness) in it's menu

I have a Sony SDM-S51 15" LCD display :P
RE: I bought a monitor by The_Thief on 03-27-2005 at 03:25 AM

It's all configured properly

what backlight I turned down the brightness to 10

RE: I bought a monitor by jren207 on 03-27-2005 at 03:30 PM

nooo not the brightness, the backlight, your screen should contain a bulb. Mine does. That illuminates the screen. I adjusted mine and it when darker.

I have the 152v version of the SyncMaster, and it is very good. I've had it for about 6 months and it has never had any problems. I found it had a bit of motion blur, but not much. You have to look really close

I have a SyncMaster 151n too, but mine looks slightly different. Maybe mine i an european model or some older reversion?

RE: I bought a monitor by user35870 on 03-27-2005 at 10:01 PM

Has any of yous with the syncmaster had any dead pixels the reason i am asking is because i am looking for a good lcd as the one i have (medion) has dead pixels and has some problems with the auto ajust

RE: I bought a monitor by King For A Day on 03-27-2005 at 10:02 PM

my sony vaio was just plug in and use, it set its self up sraight away  and as well as perfect picture it looks sexy as well

RE: I bought a monitor by jren207 on 03-27-2005 at 10:12 PM

My sony screen is really good, had it for nearly 3 years and no dead pixels or any defects. (y)

RE: I bought a monitor by lizard.boy on 03-27-2005 at 10:55 PM

my dad has a samsung 17" lcd and i have 2 syncmaster 710v's one of them gives a different color at a the exact same settings but its something you get used to (could be that i have my newer one plugged into my dvi adapter.)

edit: nope. they must change either in production over time or just i got a bad one.

RE: I bought a monitor by Val on 03-28-2005 at 01:43 AM

i have a SyncMaster 955 DF its not thin but its good quallity i didnt need to ajust anything it was good alredy

RE: I bought a monitor by The_Thief on 03-28-2005 at 02:37 AM

Ok how do I adjust that? that bulb?

RE: I bought a monitor by The_Thief on 03-28-2005 at 03:22 AM

My screen resolution is 1024x768 the dark colours are fine and don't hurt my eyes just the bright ones

RE: I bought a monitor by Menthix on 03-28-2005 at 09:50 AM

Play with the menu on your monitor, mine (also a SyncMaster 151n) is set to:
brightness: 50
contrast: 50
fine: 93
coarse: 1317
Color Control...
R: 50
G: 50
B: 50

I believe the default settings are brightness 80 and contrast 70, which are just too high. No idea why Samsung made those default :s.

RE: I bought a monitor by Hank on 03-28-2005 at 10:10 AM

should have bought a 153V samsung 15inch LCD . .the 151n's are older

RE: I bought a monitor by jren207 on 03-28-2005 at 03:54 PM

hmmm, must be just on sony monitors that you can adjust the backlight... *-)

RE: I bought a monitor by paperless on 03-28-2005 at 04:49 PM

15" is very small i think you could have bought a bigger one without paying much more...

RE: I bought a monitor by fluffy_lobster on 03-28-2005 at 05:58 PM

what kind of monitor contains a bulb? :-/

RE: I bought a monitor by ShawnZ on 03-28-2005 at 07:13 PM

Alot? LCDs need bulbs cause thier like gameboys. (infact they are used in gameboys:P) They can't actually illuminate the pixels, they just color them. So thier needs to be a backlight to illuminate the screen. (btw all computer LCD monitors contain backlights)

RE: I bought a monitor by The_Thief on 03-28-2005 at 07:33 PM

So how do I adjust mine then?
