preferences visual problems by King For A Day on 03-28-2005 at 05:06 PM

when i open the preferances panel i get a screen like this, its been the same for every version so its most likely to do with my computer.

the boxes do not fit properly and  they overlap alot, the plugins button is nearly off the box altogether.
is this plus or me?
if its me how can i sort it?

This is most likely because of your theme you're using.

The image of yours clearly shows that the dialog system font size is screwed up (and thus dialog units are not properly converted to screen units).

So try another theme (or don't use crappy 3rd party theme patches at all) ;)

It is the Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Theme. An actual theme created by Microsoft and you do not need a patch for it.

Like I said, it is your system font that is screwed up. And this is carried over in ALL themes...

Let me show you what will happen when I simulate the screwing up of the system font size:

as you will notice, your main menu's captions and text in dialogs, etc... will all be small, not only in Messenger Plus!

ok thanks, where do i change it?

BTW i was just demostrating to you that it wasnt the themes themselves doing it.

right click on your desktop and go to properties, then go to the appearance tab and when u scroll through the different items, the ones with font should always be size 8.

EDIT: If you're using windows blinds, u have to click on advanced when you go to the appearance tab. If your using windows blinds shareware release you then have to click on other advanced controls after clicking on advanced.

This is caused by the DPI set in your Windows. Messenger Plus! is only compatible with a standard 96 DPI depth and you're probably using 120DPI or somethign in between. To change that, go in the advanced settings of the display properties panel and change the DPI setting :).
