Yes thats is real. I was reading a magazine once and it showed a cell phone with new Virtual Keyboard. It was a different phone but the same keyboard being virtually projected on the ground.

That technology has been around for years now.

It works by a laser that knows when you put your finger in one of the spaces.

Very nice :) :P that would be like a touch screen or something.. or motion sensor 8-)

The website of the creators is http://www.vkb-tech.com/

I guess it works like a motion sensor indeed...

RE: Virtual Keyboard by King For A Day on 03-28-2005 at 09:20 PM

ive seen these but i rekon it would be wierd to be just typing on a table with no movement when you touch it, very good tho

RE: Virtual Keyboard by ddunk on 03-28-2005 at 09:22 PM

Yeah, wtbtw did buy one of those. I was contemplating getting one over ebay but it was coming from hong kong so it was the normal $150 + another $75 for shipping. I'm definately getting one for my iPAQ when the prices go down.

It's not really meant for computers that use mice. It's made for PDA's that use a stylus.

When your dad tells you go to bed its to late.. then this keyboard comes out  to the rescue.. even not making a noise.. but.. doesnt hurt your eyes?

It needs a flat surface...

(and even then it works like *beep* if you read the reports and reviews of it)

RE: Virtual Keyboard by lizard.boy on 03-28-2005 at 10:56 PM

its not meant to be a daily keyboard used by someone at a desktop pc. its meant to be purly portable in case you need to write something in a restaraunt or away from home.

RE: Virtual Keyboard by mwe99 on 03-28-2005 at 11:50 PM

Yeah a good idea... if anyone does get one.. let us know what it's like :)

RE: Virtual Keyboard by Pyroteq on 03-29-2005 at 06:13 AM

i want one!

RE: Virtual Keyboard by .Roy on 03-29-2005 at 06:22 AM

Not me. What if i lose my place on the keyboard? How do i get back  to it without knowing where the f and j key are.. Because they have those little bumps so you know. Plus it would be weird to hit the table instead of something else. It wont make a noticeable sound that something has been clicked i guess.

RE: Virtual Keyboard by John on 03-29-2005 at 10:59 AM

Who in their right mind would want that, you can't type without actually looking at the desk infront of you (so you can throw touch typing out the window), your hands would make messed up shadows the whole time hiding half of the keyboard and typing on your hard desk for a while actually hurts your finger tips after a while. (Try it.) Your keyboard is ten times as soft as your desk.

My vote = It's worthless. :P
