I've always heard people say preemark and never prymark...

RE: Primark - pronounced - prymark or preemark? by tomfletcherman on 03-30-2005 at 08:24 PM

Its probably a regional issue but primark isn't really either because if you pronounce it prymark (which it is closer to) it gives a longer sound on the 'y'. It's more like priemark (prie rhymes with pie) :P look in a dictionary, aren't there phonetics for each word?

Well I'm going to be different again and say...............

Preemark

I think it must be a dialect thing though because people here in scotland all say Preemark (If you want I'll provide an audio of me saying it. Theres an offer you could refuse :P)

I would definitely say prymark, that is of course if you compare it to other words in the english language.

RE: Primark - pronounced - prymark or preemark? by saralk on 03-31-2005 at 08:57 AM

Ok, say the way you pronounce it, and where you are from, then we can establish if its a north/south thing.

I say Preemark, and I am from North Wales.
