RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by frankiedaman on 03-30-2005 at 07:13 PM

I'm also having problems logging in. I thought it might've been a problem my side but it appears not.

I wonder if that "MSNServers" program works on MSN 7, so that I can change to a different server and successfully log in seeing as the main one is experiencing difficulties. Anyone know?

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by frack on 03-30-2005 at 07:14 PM

i dont use any of the others cauise msn is just so kool except when the service is unavailiable

* amy wonders whether she should try joining icq to  but stay on msn as well :O

I'm still experiencing problems here :S

Sorry to be a bit rude, but can I reask my question whether the MSN servers program works on MSN 7 Beta? So that I can change to a more reliable server

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by Anubis on 03-30-2005 at 07:32 PM

If it is still not working you could try the following;

Try changing servers by downloading msnservers.zip. If you are using a version of windows before XP or haven't already got WinZip download and install WinZip from www.winzip.com. To be able to open that file.
Extract all the contents of that file to the desktop and open the msnservers.exe file. Select another server, test it, and change to it and then try and sign in again.

Is yours back online?

Maybe they are going back online by versions or by regions!

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by frankiedaman on 03-30-2005 at 08:06 PM

All MSN versions connect to the same server unless you change it manually yourself - so version numbers are irrelevant

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by Odium696 on 03-30-2005 at 08:10 PM

Then why some are online and others are not?

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by frankiedaman on 03-30-2005 at 08:16 PM

I think that all MSN's connect to the same server (messenger.hotmail.com). Windows Messenger is slightly different from MSN whereas servers are concerned i think. Although Like Odium696 suggested, the delay from when it's fixed could vary between continents.

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by steVenB on 03-30-2005 at 08:24 PM

I cant sign on...I think its a way of telling me that I should be studying.

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by CookieRevised on 03-30-2005 at 08:28 PM

People please...

The MSN service is/was having some hickups and they were conducting tests with the new Beta, like you can read everywhere.

It is of no use that everybody posts that he/she can't log in and then after an hour posting back that you can log in... This is not needed and is spam.

Just be patient, and try to log in from time to time and refrain from spamming threads like this (this is the third one I come across in the last half hour!). The services will always be up again in no time...

If you can't live without MSN then that's too bad, but still that is no reason to start spamming unneeded posts. If you think another IM service (like AIM) is any better, then think again. They too have problems and maintenance to do.

If you don't believe that then simple use another IM service instead of bashing MS/MSN because _that_ is BS, not the fact that MS/MSN does some maintenance or is testing the Beta software so you (yes you!) will have an official released msn messenger 7 on time...

...

Sorry for being so blunt, but yeah, some people ....

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by God of the Devil on 03-31-2005 at 02:48 PM

well strangly AIM i have never had any downtime with, well any downtime when im awake at least, the trouble with msn is that they do their "maintence" at peak times thus keeping their reputation of keeping the customers well and truly ticked, "hickups?!" well maybe if msn are doing "Maintence" (or someome unrinating on the servers) can they least keep us informed of it that way we dont have to resort to the froums and 3rd party websites to find out what the hell is going on.

Msn Messenger is a good IM and ok we shoudlnt bitch about it cos its free, but my complaint is that mickysoft doesnt keep us infromed, seems like the forums are quicker source then ifomation then MSN's own website.. can anyone see the logic in that?

There was a major power outage in Redmond last night, it can have something to do with why Messenger is down.

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by BEWARE^^ on 04-01-2005 at 05:25 PM

well i only was disconnected by msn yesterday and today i didn't disconnect so i guess it depends on what server you are

RE: Anyone having problems logging in? by squall_leonhart69r on 04-01-2005 at 05:25 PM

microsoft should invest in a portable nuclear powercell :P

they are probably going through system diagnostics to make sure everything is ok
server doesn't matter as msn switches servers several times during the time that you are on there

i lost my connection as well so i guess the aussie interchange is down

Edit by Fraisie: DO NO DOUBLE POST. Instead, use the Edit button. Thanks
