Run-time Error by Tourist on 03-31-2005 at 01:14 AM

Hey

Ever since i've played around with some plug-ins, I get this error everytime I start MSN Messenger, I've tried repair but no luck. There are currently no plug-ins installed, I uninstalled them all but still get this error. See attachment

Currently using MSN Messenger 6.2 with Plus!

Thanks

That does come from a plugin (made in VB). So not all plugins are uninstalled properly. How did you uninstall them? Did you simply removed the files? If so, that's not the way to do it...

  • Untick all the plugins in Messenger Plus! and press "ok" or "apply"
  • Quit MSN Messenger completely by right clicking on its icon in the systemtray and choosing "Exit"
  • See if there are uninstallers provided for the plugins in "Add/Remove programs", if so use them
  • See if there are uninstallers provided for the plugins in the plugins directory, if so use them
  • Unregister all VB plugins by doing: Start > Run > regsvr32 /u "c:\path to the plugin directory\plugin.dll"
  • Delete any files left in the plugins folder
  • Only then restart MSN Messenger

My mistake - there was still Plug-in files in the Plugin folder.

It was the File Transfer plug-in

Cheers Cookie & LP15
