"Packs" Button in Chat Window by alegator on 04-10-2005 at 06:35 PM

I notice there's a "Packs" button in the conversation window. Is this sort of an add for payware? Should I remove it with A-Patch?

You can remove it, its just another of these ways that MSN is trying to make money, it is where you purchase packs of display pictures, backgrounds and emoticons.

It link to Blue Mountain, where you can buy packs of Emoticons and Display Pictures. It isn't an advert really. :p You can remove it if you want to.

No, you do not go to jail. But patching is illegal as it is overwriting MSN's .exe of MSN Messenger.

Correct me if i'm wrong

Well, by installing a patch to msn messenger, you are breaking a federal law... and you may suffer any certain consequences, I'm not sure what will happen... It may or may not happen, but if you're caught, then you may be fined, sued, whatever :s...

But it is my guess that millions of people patch MSN and pataches are openly offered in websites across the net, so what's the deal?

There is no deal. Its just illegal. Its like people download music from kazaa. Thats illegal. But everyone still uses it!
We cant tell you to use it cause then we will be breaking the rules. Do what u think ;)
People are barely being sued or caught for this.

yes you will go to jail like a dirty criminal for 20 years at least and then you will be eaten by crocodiles. but if you want though you could patch it anyway.

Ever heard of the word 'joke'?

Anyway, there are to many people that Patch MSN. They won't go and sue every single one of them, and they won't just pick out one or two single persons to sure. So you will be safe. If Microsoft really cared about people patching MSN then they would have cracked down on the websites that have the patches on them illegally.
