well they do deserve some money for it but u can easily remove it.

use A-Patch. -> http://a-patch.tk

Yes, there is a lot of advertisement, but you can always get rid of this with one of the following ways:

A-Patch: http://apatch.tk

Ghost Patch: http://volv.bounceme.net/index.php?page=ghost

Stuffplug: http://www.stuffplug.com/

These willremove the ad banners for you. The ad banners are a way to help Microsoft earn money for the things that they give you for free.

Gota make money somehow, Everyone knows that. And i recall the MSN Department losing alot of money last year.
Like they said, you can easily remove it and theres a few different ways to do that.

A Patch And Ghost Patch are both patches (Meaning its a fix on your current messenger, nothing additional)

Stuffplug also has other good features.

Just thought you people would like to know that A-Patch version 1.1.9 (updated 15/5/2005) from http://A-Patch.tk contains the trojan horse TR/Dldr.Smal.apv.12

I would unfortunately advise against installing this patch which is ashame because of its list of features.

If anyone could contact the author of this patch for some explanation that would be cool.

Regards,
Hodges

I just downloaded it and there's no viruses (using avast! Antivirus with definitions updated today). A-Patch is still my #1 choice (Y)

I really don't think that patching msn messenger is the answer, you should really leave the ads and things, Microsoft deserve that cash :-/.

I agree. Just not as harshly  :)  I really appreciate the service being free though.  Which brings me to:  I (l) skins!

MSN7 in general is just too bloated. Not just the advertisement, but all the other crap; from winks, down to pure RAM usage. It uses almost twice that of msn 6.2

In other words, I stayed with msn 6.2
If at some point they 'force' 6.x users to update, I will just switch to another client. 7 Is too bloated. Its nasty.

You can use something like Messenger Discovery to prevent Microsoft from forcing you to download MSN Messenger 7.

I agree that MSN Messenger 7 uses much more RAM than any of the previous versions of MSN, it's because it's better, plus... Surely you're running a half-decent computer, it shouldn't really matter :-/.
