How can i use an animated gif as an avatar?I can use them but they wont "play".

I presume you mean in MSN? You have to have Dynamic Display Pictures... NOT animated gifs
Dynamic Display Pictures used to appear in the My Display Picture menu. Formerly referred to as Deluxe Display Pictures, this special type of MSN Display Pictures is supposed to change automatically according to your mood. Source: mess.be

Thanx for the info, i went to mess.be and found this about it:

It (if even possible) would be Highly difficult to do... many ideas have been brought up and shot down around here.
