Just put the Windows XP Setup disk in, and when it asks for the location to install to simply chose the existing partition and tell it to (Quick) format it first.

Make boot disks. Follow the instructions from Microsoft
You will have to run format.com or format.exe (whichever it is from DOS [ack!]) to erase everything. I highly recommend backing everything up to CD first. You might want to get a tech savvy friend to come help you out if you don't know what you're doing.

MeEtc - he doesn't need to do that. The Windows XP Setup will do it for him.

The entire setup shouldn't take more then an hour from start to finish in my experience anyway.  Good luck
