Taskbar Icons manager? by M73A on 04-15-2005 at 11:14 AM

is there a program such as a taskbar icons manager because my taskbar shows icons randomly, they are sometimes there on startup or they sometimes arent......they just seem to do what they like...

is there a reason they do this? it even happens to icons i have set to 'always show'

is there a program that would 'manage' my icons....

it is very annoying because when my computer does a schedulded virus scan or something like that..i cant see it.....

also, i cant see my graphics card which is set to show, or my volume settings which is also ment to be there...

any ideas?

thanks!

Sometimes, my icons do that too. I think it's just a bug in Windows.

i found the problem...well a fix anyway...just incase anyone else searches and finds this here it is:

Right-click on My Computer
Click on Manage
Expand 'Services & Applications'
Highlight 'Services'
Look through list of services on the right....
Find Universal Plug & Play Device Host
Right-click on it.
Click properties.
Change startup type to 'Disabled'
Do exactly the same with 'SSDP discovery service'
Problem should be solved.
