I had a problem yesterday signing in, it just kept spinning to sign in.. I then closed Messenger Disocovery then it signed in fine.

I don't know if any of you use this?

If disableing discovery doesn't work;
Please could you tell us if you use a firewall or router, if so please could you specify which you have. Any uPnP options or any connection settings you have tweaked in it would also help.

I've searched around for similar problems; I found a similar problem with no results or good solutions.

If you wish you could try this, but I'd rather know about your connection settings before doing this step, which may be pointless but may resolve problems like this.

So, it's back to the newbish way of fixing this. Go to Start > Control Panel (classic view) > Add\remove programs. Uninstall MSN Messenger from there. Reboot your computer and install MSN Messenger again.

Hello Everybody. Well i have the same problem with conecting to the messenger
May i ask what is "Discovery" that all of you seem to be mentioning? I may have it installed and not know it.

Another thing is that someone asked about conections etc to help identify the root of the problem

I have a cable modem. Motorola Speedstream i believe.

As fas as that Upnp.....or something that was mentioned above (I believe that is in the Properties of the LAN conection ) Is that supposed to be checked or unchecked?

I had a problem. when my cable modem was conected i got viruses and did not know how. I then realizes that i was seen about 20 diferent Network conections that i did not know about. and they had viruses. The tecnician cam along and i guess restricted me seeing them or them accesing my network.
I saw him tweaking that part of the Properties were the TCP/IP is configured and that UpNp..or something like that also.

Please help me out.

My experience is sometimes that msn messenger is slow because they do maintnance on it.  See my sig and check the status of msn messenger.  Also depends on the conection you have or if your using a proxy.
