What version of windows are you using?

Its XP Home Edition (not positive if its home edition or professional)

I would just do a windows xp repair if none of the folders are opening.  Just put in the xp cd but with with the cd hit enter then when it finds the root drive c:\    just do a repair shouldn't take more then 20 min and none of the files or programs on your computer will be gone.   the other root you could take is do a system restore go back let's say a week and see if that fixes your problem.

I researched your problem. Do you have Photoshop?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a memory issue? Possibly bad RAM, small paging file, etc? :S

Yea, probely.

How much RAM do you have emtsniper?

Edit: It may be something to do with photoshop. I lost the URL now, but i'll try and find it. Someone said "Im positive its something to do with photoshop" in a different forum.

I reinstalled PhotoShop WITHOUT making it the default application for JPEG, TIFF, nor GIF files, and now Windows Explorer and Adobe Photoshop appear to be living in harmony.

It's not the default browser!

When you install photoshop, it asks which extensions(.psd, .png, .jpg etc) you want to make photoshop to be the default program to open them...dont make photoshop open any of those...leave at you had it before installing photoshop:)
