Here i am giving dz some work 
...
Anyway here's my suggestion, like in some threads you sometimes need users to come and visit them, so you could have a thread alert button in the profile of each user to alert them of thread X or Z...
Rules i Invented :
- No more then 3 Alerts per day
- No more then 2 Alerts per user per day
and it could be a bar like this...
(woow dodgy photoshop skills...)

That could be a good idea. But i think there should be a post count limit so that new people dont alert their thread to lots of people pointlessly. So limit it like the rep system.

This would be a great idea, rather then the current Email system. I think DZ should really do this

I use a feature called subsribe to threads or w.e on md forums...

Perhaps it could also be an option in MyBB? "Email Notification", "Thread Subscriptions", "Subscribe"
