Well, you know the little search thing that is top-right of the Mozilla Firefox window...
The little "G" has gone, and I can't press to make the dropdown list either, it seems the mozilla firefox is just screwing up around me 
...
Does anybody know a solution, it's just stopped working ...

Try right clicking the top bar, hitting "customize", dragging the search bar off the menu then dragging it back on.

I would just reinstall firefox. The pictures and things for the search bar are located in C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins so that folder may have been corrupted somehow.

Everything is still in that folder, I just checked, I think it may be a problem with the browser rather than with the actual files, I'll do a clean reinstall again 
.

try creating a new profile sometimes profiles get messed up by extentions.
