It's a disposable e-mail account system, it can be used to avoid giving out personal information, it's very useful :)

EDIT:

I found another disposable site, but this time it's for files. You leave a file on the server, and someone can pick it up from another location. It is deleted in 24 hours. :)

Why would someone avoid giving personal information, people will just use that for spamming, flaming, scamming through them.

I dont think you understand what it is.

Say you want to sign up for a website, but you don't want to give your real e-mail address, because you know you will get loads of spam. Then you just give anything @pokemail.com for example saralisthegreatestguyontheplanet@pokemail.com and then it will store the e-mails you get to that address for 24 hours, and delete it. There is no sign up required, so can be done very quickly

Ive been using it for quite a while now, and its good.

I've seen numerous sevices similar to this. It's a pretty good idea, i think i may have to start using it.

I just have multiple real (permanent) accounts, and use different addresses depending on whether or not the site/person is reputable. :p

Same here. I have a personal one, one for forums and irc and one called ajdspam@gmail.com :P

With Pookmail it's quite fun typing in logins such as 'blah' and seeing what people are using it for :P

EDIT: Yes, I have just edited it to make it more gramatically nice :P

RE: Pookmail by saralk on 05-07-2005 at 09:06 PM

well if you are signing up to one of those things that send you a confirmation link. Or, if you, signing for free porn, which most people will use it for, you cna just have a generic 123456 type password.
