Strange bug with 7.0.0813 by Art Crazy on 05-06-2005 at 02:26 PM

When i installed the latest version and went to start messenger it appears on the sys tray but then nothing happens, i have to shut down the process and it wont work.
I tried reinstalling and nothing did it.
Strangely after killing msgplus' process it worked just fine!

Anybody can tell me whats wrong, and if it's a messenger plus problem, fix it :)

EDIT: I found out its a plugin prob, gonna try to guess whats the plugin that's doing this.
Do you know of any plugin that works with 0777 and not with 0813?

Yeah, i have the same problem, I installed 7.0.0813 and then i see a msn sys tray and nothing happens, with task manager killing msnmsgr.exe won't work too... I have to open a new messenger.

Just thought I would ask, have you guys disabled Windows Messenger? Some plugins need it to work. If it isn't enabled, it can freeze up MSN.

It IS enabled, as everythign worked fine with 0777
@Lt.Col.DraGon
Try killing msgplus process and then try msn messenger, it should work
Another way is to rename the plugins folder, thats how i found out it was a plugin, if i rename the plugins folder, no plugins but msn messenger runs with plus...

you could also simply unticked the option:

Plus! > Preferences > Plugins > Allow Plus! to load the plugins

;)

EDIT: @Art Crazy: good point :P

Well, if we cant run messenger, how on earth are we gonna untick that option?

Hmm, uninstall Messenger Plus!.. remove the plug-ins folder.. re-install plus! see if messenger works... then install each plug-in 1 by 1 to see which one stuffs it up

Can you explain what plugin causes the error? OR if it isn't a plugin, explain what you did?

Thank you, I'll try that ;) and if it doesn't work, I'll try to do what Cookie said.

You can see the bugs involving 7.0.0813 and SPNG in this thread.

They will be fixed in the next version I'm guessing

Well, it was a plugin, i deleted some plugin .dll i never use and the respective registry entry, that fixed it, but as i removed some 10 plugins, i cant say the certain plugin that does the error
Only thing i can say is that its a plugin that was made when MsgPlus 2.xx was arround
