Custom Names by rhys100 on 05-07-2005 at 01:12 PM

I have just installed msgplus and  the stuff plugin on my new comp and i'm running xp!

i'm an a advanced user and am having problems with the custom name function.

The custom names display on the contact list but not on the taskbar title and on the window title. For every contact it displays a "?" title (see pictures attached

can anyone help

Without knowing what you've set as the custom name, we can't really offer a solution.

Which language version of Windows XP are you using? Which Service Pack do you have installed and is it Home, Pro, or other?

Are you using Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger?

Does this happen for every contact?

Does the name show up properly when you are chatting with them? (When you have the "Use custom name while chatting "feature enabled)

Do their original names have Unicode characters (Other symbols besides those on a regular keyboard)

Do you have any plugins installed?

Have you used any programs to Patch your version of Messenger?

Lastly in a convo type (!VER) and please post the results.

Edit: Just noticed you made mention of Stuff Plug have you tried disabling Plugins (Plus! > Preferences > Plugins > Uncheck Enable Plugins > Apply > Ok > Sign Out and back in)

Does this fix the issue?

Is the custom names properly enabled in the registry?

If they show up fine in the contact list then yes they are. There is something else that is causing it.

Sounds basic but are you sure the box in custom names is ticked for enable contact names and use contact names while chatting?
