Streaming Music by TylerG on 05-07-2005 at 11:31 PM

Is there anyway to save something on to your computer that is being streamed from the internet?

RE: Streaming Music by mwe99 on 05-07-2005 at 11:45 PM

Nopes. It comes directly from the site and most disable all the ways you could find out the source

The streaming is most sites way of getting you to pay more to download. They have taken alot of precautions to prevent people taking the files.  Silly people

if it's streaming from a built in wmp, sometimes you can right click it and look at properties to find a direct link... and then save that through your normal wmp.
but only sometimes

You can't save a stream as a file which is what TylerG wants. You can save it as a link which you can play at any time, but it's being downloaded straight from the link at all times so it can't be saved.

i'm not sure what you want, but you can record it with things like this.

RE: Streaming Music by Spiderr on 05-08-2005 at 12:44 AM

maybe you can use a sound recorder, like windows sound recorder or maybe the creative labs (soundblaster sound cards) sound recorder and then change the format to .mp3 (originally is a .wav)

If you're using WMP, you could try going to File/Add to Library then clicking on Add currently playing item. This will save the stream into your media library so you can open up your library and play it anytime you want. It's the closest thing u can get to actually saving the streaming file to your computer. I have used it to save streaming radio links.

You can try this.

The link was inactive before, it seems to be working fine now though.
RE: Streaming Music by mwe99 on 05-08-2005 at 01:45 AM

Yeah, i think he put www. infront of it, which caused it not to work. I googled the link and it had a direct http://

RE: Streaming Music by TylerG on 05-08-2005 at 01:57 AM

It isn't working for me.  I can't even open it.

RE: RE: Streaming Music by rav0 on 05-08-2005 at 04:50 AM

Is the link or the program not working? If the link, make sure you are using http://streamripper.sourceforge.net/ and not http://www.streamripper.sourceforge.net/.

Why not try out Screamer Radio. Has a nice 'record' button. Still in beta though, and development seems to have slowed down a lot.

RE: Streaming Music by TylerG on 05-08-2005 at 05:42 PM

No I meant that when I try to download the streamripper it won't even open:( Have no clue why.

RE: Streaming Music by buzz on 05-08-2005 at 06:46 PM

if u feel like spending some money u could get a minidisk player, plug it into your computers speakers and record the stream:P

y dont u just listen to launch.com then dl the songs from limewire or something like that?

There is a program, one for Windows Media Player and one for Real player that rips streaming music etc. You can download a free trial of it and you get to rip something like 5 for free or something. I can't really remember, I'll see if i can find it 'cause I can't remember what it was.

[Edit]
This is what I've found while looking. They aren't what I saw before but they look promising:
http://www.mp3towav.org/RipCast-Streaming-Audio-Ripper/
http://emoney.al.ru/capture-streaming-video-and-a...-totalrecorder.htm
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,6733,00.asp
http://www.replay-music.com/?src=GMUSIC_STREAMINGMUSIC2

Quite a few on this page:
http://emoney.al.ru/capture-streaming-video-and-a...treaming-audio.htm

If you want to search for yourself type "rip streaming music" in google:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=rip+streaming+mu...WE:en&start=0&sa=N

(Some may contain adware or other threats so please don't blame me if you become infected in anyway. Please read about the product first before downloading:))

You'll need a program that can handle *.tar.gz. One of the programs that does that is WinRAR.

No Ddunk, that's only if you want to download the source.

RE: Streaming Music by TylerG on 05-09-2005 at 10:24 PM

I can't get it StreamRipper to work.  I downloaded it and extracted the files.  But then I couldn't open it.
