How to get rid of the banner below and the Tabs ?? by Sweetfrost on 05-21-2005 at 10:53 AM

Hi there,

can someone please tell me how to get rid of those annoying baners at the bottom of the main IM-window ?

and also..  the Tabs in the left side are useless to me and i want to remove them .. how ?

I remember MsgPLUS! in the old days where we could remove/hide those things - why are these functions removed ?

Best regards  Frosty

Removing the tabs is now a feature within MSN Messenger.

To get rid of tabs, on the main MSN window, go to Tools->Options->Security->Turn on "This is a shared computer so don't display my tabs"

And yes stuffplug, as Calvin said, can be used to remove the advertisements. It is a plugin for messenger plus! so doesn't patch MSN.

When you open the configuration for Stuffplug NG, under the MSNM7 tab, there are options to remove the advertisements.

I'm sorry, but the current available SPNG version does not hide the advertisment banner in the conversationwindow (in MSNM v.7.0.0813, it does hide the contactlist one)..when the new version comes out that will be working again.

For now you can use:
Mess patch for msnm 7.0.0813
A-Patch

The tabs on the left side are easy to turn off:
Main MSNM screen: tools > options > security...tick "this is a shared computer so don't display my tabs"

A-Patch is full of features how to disable all unneeded features in MSN Messenger. Also polygamy and extension block remover.

-edit-
Damn, Sunshine got first with A-patch. :P

Why is there the option under the MSNM7 tab in stuffplug configuration to Hide text advertisment in conversation windows?

EDIT: sorry, thought you were saying it wasn't there, not that it wasn't working.

That has always been there, that is nothing new.

Also, Sweetfrost, you can make your own tabs if you like. Check out http://tabserve.msnfanatic.com/. And I believe that StuffPlug-NG also provides a Tab Editor, but I may be wrong in this.

Note that http://tabserve.msnfanatic.com/ is in the process of updating, and the new patch may not work atm.

Yes, Stuffplug NG also has a Tab Manager to create custom tabs. I use it and its really good.
