Ok i persoanly don't know this part. Search about it just remember the registy is important and you should always back it up before tampering with it :)

I don't think this is possible unless you do explore the registry (which i highly recommend AGAINST doing unless you know what to do) The Computer Administrator has the same access as you do.

RE: Windows xp by squall_leonhart69r on 05-23-2005 at 09:02 PM

you can't

since both users are Administrators both have the power to change it

the only way to prevent this is by setting her as limited user

RE: Windows xp by Nathan on 05-23-2005 at 09:24 PM

nooooooooo lol oh well thanks everyone
ive just thought at my school they have accounts were limited accounts and the staff are sortof admin but the cant change or add acounts how do they do this

RE: Windows xp by mwe99 on 05-23-2005 at 09:25 PM

Probably set up user groups - ask them, i'm sure they wouldn't mind telling you.

RE: Windows xp by squall_leonhart69r on 05-23-2005 at 09:26 PM

user groups yeah

they are more powerusers then admin

RE: Windows xp by uberdosis on 05-23-2005 at 09:30 PM

Sorry i read the question incorrectly.

To the post above, you have no idea what your talking about do you.

RE: Windows xp by squall_leonhart69r on 05-23-2005 at 09:36 PM

um yah i do, you can't limit the powers of an admin

but if you launch User accounts 2, you can modify what groups people belong to and designate access rights

RE: Windows xp by uberdosis on 05-23-2005 at 09:44 PM

I know that.....

"user groups yeah

they are more powerusers then admin "

can you say that again. but in correct english?

RE: Windows xp by squall_leonhart69r on 05-23-2005 at 09:55 PM

Power users possess most administrative powers with some restrictions, Thus power users can run legacy applications in addition to certified applications

what about it?

RE: Windows xp by uberdosis on 05-24-2005 at 12:41 AM

Never mind.....the way you said it didnt make sence.  I know what a power user, admin etc is ... jez im not a noob.

Your school with be running Windows XP Pro I would imagine, in a domain environment (you can login to the computer and access the files in the same way from any windows computer in school)?

Basically, if you are running a Professional version of windows, you can edit the exact list of things the user can do. So, for example, you can let them install programs but not make any other important system changes.

Anyway, you shouldn't be running a normal user account as an administrator - it's a major security risk. Set each users as a normal limited user account, then if you need to carry out any system changes switch to the administrator account.
