In your burning software, there should be an option to change the write speed. Also, try buying faster CD's.

(taking into consideration you already set the burning to max speed and you bought the fastest cd-r's)

except if it's messing with the internal hardware which is dangerous, removes all guarantee from the cd recorder and can potentially destroy your cd recorder, there is nothing you can do.

Make sure you are using the latest firmware for it: Here is the latest update. Although this won't change the speed your drive writes at, it can make it run a little smoother and more efficient, but I doubt you'll notice anything.
However, there is nothing you can do to improve your drive that you have. It will only burn at 1x, 2x, 4x speeds (on CD-Rs), and 2x, 4x (on CD-RWs). That is slow by todays standards. There is no decent hardware alteration to the drive that will safely make it go faster. I would not recommend you tweak it in any physical way.

Also in this case buying faster disks does not really apply, 4x disks are as fast as he can go.

Don't bother buying 48x disks or setting the burn speed to 48x, your drive can't burn at 48x. You could buy 48x disks, but they are as much use to you as a 4x disk.

Strange, looks like the English site links to a German unzipper package, but the installer inside it is in English. :dodgy:

You can extract it like a normal unzipper package, even though it is in German, or you can download the attachment to this post and extact all the contents to a folder. Just make the folder say on your desktop, and drag all the contents of this archive into it, either using WinZip or the extractor in Windows XP.

Retry what I told you before, with the firmware attachment I showed you at this post. Again, please note, that upgrade will not really increase any speed, just make the drive slightly less buggy and whatever updates the company has made. Any speed increase, if any, will be nominal.
