Displays/monitors by philipe on 06-11-2005 at 05:58 PM

Hello everyone,

I still have an old analogue monitor at my house and wanted to know how to attach it to my pc as a secondary monitor, but extend the taskbar onto this monitor and not just use it to drag files and windows.  My first display is attached to the dvi port and this one is analogue.

Thanks for the help.

erm, there might be an adaptor or a usb adapter but im not sure.

the way i have it is my graphics card has a DIN (which i use to go to the tv...) and the normal screen plug (sorry dont know the name, lol)

once thats all wired up i have to goto my display card settings and change the moniter views. it can be set to span from one to the other, horizontally and vertically, it also can clone so its on both screens...

but thats my graphics card so it might not be the same sort of thing for you...

Ok, Ill try to attach the monitor onto the anologue slot and change the preferences on my nvidia settings and monitor settings when I get back home to Germany from my school in Switzerland.  By the way I got the idea of dual monitors from the plus babe page ;)

Are there special wallpapers you have to get or do they just copy or strech?

mine strecth, cant really notice the diference (in picture quality) but if you go into some advance bit you can have the one wallpaper duplicated or it strectched. or even diferent wallpapers, lol. but you don't NEED a specific wallpaper, you can get them though *-)

you either use a program 2 have 2 wallpapers or you can make a wallpaper that is the legth of both your monitors and tile it

Example, your resoloution on both is 1024x768, them you open photoshop or something and make a wallpaper 2048x768 pixels and save, then choose "tiled" when you are adding it :)
