Getting Plus! to work by cantuchthis on 06-15-2005 at 02:47 PM

Ok I installed Plus! and it works fine if I click the Launch Messenger Plus! icon, but Plus! doesnt work if I click the Msn Messenger 7.0 icon. How can I get Plus! to work by clicking the Messenger 7.0 icon??

You can try Alternate mode:

- Plus > preferences > miscellaneous..under Messenger Plus! Automatic Recovery Options, set it to "Alternate".
- Reboot
- Start MSNM and check if it's still in alternate mode
- Ctrl alt del to go to taskmanager and in processeslist end msgplus.exe
- Now restart MSNM and see if Plus! appears in the menu, if so "alternate mode" is working fine.
- After checking you can remove Plus! from startuplist by going to: start > run ..type: msconfig <enter>, go to startuplist and uncheck MsgPlus (this step isn't really needed, if need be Plus! will switch to "Allternate" by itself, just check if it's still set to "Alternate" every now and then).

Alternate mode is new and only available in Windows 2000/XP. Make sure you got no programs running preventing writing in the registry whilst setting it to "alternate mode".

If you use another OS, try "default mode - forced".

Close by the icon at the bottom (taskbar) and open msn messenger  again

i cant click on the tab to change the mode - but i think thats because im not an administrator on my comp.

Try an install on an account with adminpriviledges, another workaround is to put Plus! in your startupfolder.

Edit: you're welcome :D
