Okedokies if you're a student at college/high school whatever.

The question is do you have some sort of student intranet/extranet etc? If you do what kinda of things are on it?

Our school is planning one but i've ran out of ideas, so any ideas would be appreciated. For example,

We got a big system, it's called a portail ( www.cslaval.qc.ca/portail )

This includes and email adress, web storage, grades and courses schedules, online student tools, a browsing system ( contains all files posted by teachers ) and well that's about it

our schools system, haha got in shit for hacking into teacher files

they made it so easy to hack and im not even a hacker but now its secure since what me and some friends did

twas great, our little change spread through the school like wildfire, if my friends would of kept their big moths shut wed prolly still have everything

Yeah we have an intranet/extranet. I go to College de Montreal in... Montreal lol   and am starting off Sec 5 next year. We are able to access our marks and email teachers. Pretty cool interface. Even the parents are able to log on to their personal account as well. I'm pretty impressed with it.

College doesn't mean university level in every country.

Well there should be like a calendar for every student who has an account, and when the students log in, they can put down important assignment dates and test dates etc etc

Also the teachers should be able to acess a students calendar to be able to put notes in there for the students to read so there are no excuses for 'not knowing when assginments are due' or 'not being ready for the test'

It would also be handy for teachers to be able to attatch things to give to students such as school work sheets/assignment sheets and stuff like that when the student is away so the student can access it easily and doesn't miss out on anything important

A mailing system for students and teachers is also good aswel

Just my idea anyway, it would be handy for me if my school had that

At my uni, we have a web portal that contains most of what you are looking for, I think. Some of the features include:
-NetStorage (Web version of network storage drive/ftp)
-Web E-mail
-News/Weather
-Buy and Sell
-Library info (workshops, programs, books out, fines etc)
-Searchable faculty directory with e-mail address and office phone #
-Calender
-Daily Comic
-Google search

The whole thing is powered with uPortal

my school don't have anything

well a dodgy 'intranent homepage' when you open IE but thats about it... theres a thign where u can call a technician but it don't work or they arent there....

my m8s got in trouble for getting into the system BIOS my school is bexley grammar school... the password was bexley

the teacher accounts with RM all had the default passwords if the teachers didnt use themmm... (old ones or ones with laptops didnt use the account) so the password never got changed.. jus type in their name and inital and put 'password' and you could access anything so lame...

there is a 'language lab' full of headfones and microphones where you can talk to the teacher easily but that dont really count.. but that only gets used for language lessons

my school sucks with ict they are so tight with money i want an intranet would be cool...and extremely usefull...

Well our university has an intranet site where we can access the inet (that is, to allow us to pick up things for the next lectures etc.) but we can also access out Uni email and library services. Theres also a link to an online bookstore which operates with the uni and in Aberdeen. There's links to everything we could possibly need through out. However, I do believe that this is changing. I'll post a few screenshots of what we are going to be using in a moment or two

at our school we have an intranet, and it has a huge repositry of pdf files that are related to each subject. It got really big and hard to find files, (there were about 3GB worth of stuff) so they got a google search server and now we can use Google's awesome searching technology to browse all the pdf files.

Also we have a site called blackboard which gives us information regarding our school like assignments and forums and stuff...

I have something smilar to blackboard, Its for online assignments, quizzes, course info etc, called WebCT

We've got a school intranet as well. It's got loads of revision things for every subject and is really useful.

The school put it on the internet so we can log in to our school intranet from anywhere. We can download our school work, or upload it so we can get it at school. school intranet.

definately a student chat for the students to just talk to each other..it would be great if it were irc for people to monitor it too

Yeah we have blackboard too, also we have student forums (me being moderator is expected to come up with ideas) and school chat is against the network responsibilty contract (but we all use MSN anyways )

lol we have intranet and teachers use it for attendance and any medical Hazords, and lesson plans, and crap like that.... oh and Grade books easy to get in2
