I remember reading somewhere a while ago that they did a scientific study and found that when someone yawns, people around them usually do too (can't remember why).

Yes it is contagious, that's all I'm saying, I can't explain why, it just is.

I was once told of a theory where there's one 'global yawn', which travels the globe. When it passes over someone, they yawn. So, if you're in a group or a crowd, it can pass over several people.

Of course, that's a load of bollocks.

some people believe that you need more oxygen going to your brain, that's why you yawn. then other people around you will unconsciously register that fact, and yawn too.

yea..a friggin dog yawned and i yawned right after her..and so many ppl have done that to me on purpose..they look at me and they yawn..

IMO, I think the reason people yawn in groups is because they can partially hold a yawn in, but once someone yawns they think its ok to let it out. Its like on irc, once someone shows thier computer uptime or whatever, other people think its ok to do it too because someone just did it.

My opinion.

i think there is more to it than that Shawnz..ppl yawn without them knowing they are going to do it..its not that ppl want to let it go..there is nothing let out or go..you intake more air thats all but we just dont know why people yawn or why do ppl yawn when someone lese yawns
