Is It Possible To Install NIS 2005, without NAV ?!?! by zaidgs on 07-06-2005 at 01:45 PM

i dont want to use norton antivirus, for virus protection, but i want to use the firewall, and ad-block features of NIS2005, is that possible?
i dont find installing NAV on my pc a really good idea....

I have tried this before, and I got nowhere. I even asked Nortons who said "opt to not install NAV during the NIS install" - kinda difficult when it doesn't ask you. :dodgy:
One of the many reasons why I dumped my copy of NIS, and bought AVG Pro, and run the XP Firewall alongside my router firewall. :D

well, im still waiting to see if sm1 knows a walkaround.... but wish they'd not make the same assumption in next versions.... cuz i'll have to stick with NIS2004 otherwise...

If you can't find anything else you could instlall it then remove it from the boot order so it doesn't auto start.

Did you tried "Custom Install" instead of "Full Install" (or whatever it is called in NIS?

if you install another av and then install norton, then the norton setup won't install nav

yes i tried custom, NAV used to be an optional component, now there is no option for installing\removing it...
