firefox tabbed browsing by [MR] on 07-09-2005 at 04:00 PM

i need help with my firefox tabbed browsing.  i check off that i want tabbed browsing in the firefox tools>options for every link i click.  then i restarted firefox and it doesnt work...every time i click a link it will open a new window and im sorta sick off right clicking on links and pressing open in new tab so help me get this to work.  thanks.

Well if you have a mouse with a scroller then you can just click on the link with that.  You dont have to get a whole new plug-in.

o ok well i have a scroller and it doesnt work like the way u were explaing but o well i got the plugin.

If you middle click on a tab, it will close the tab, yes, but raceprouk and Curtis are talking about middle-clicking on the actual link and yes it does work for me.

Firefox, like Mozilla Navigator, has a number of shortcuts that make the use of tabs slicker and more professional.
- Middle-click a link to open it in a new tab
- Middle-click a tab to close it, or press Ctrl+W
- Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab cycle through them like Alt+Tab does for windows

And, if you get the Mouse Guestures plugin, you can set up mouse movements that manipulate tabs too. I've got it set up so if I hold the right button and flick the mouse right then left, it closes the tab.
