periodically updated web image DP by thinkamc on 07-10-2005 at 04:18 AM

Occationally online there are those dynamic pictures that have a single link, but change depending on it's conditions. For example there are those images that are countdowns (but retain a static link), or show online status, etc.

I'm wondering if there is a plug-in out there that can load a display picture from a set link, and update it periodically.

My specific usage would be so my display picture can be of a photoblog post, since I have a single image link to the latest photo posted.

Any responses?

i'm sure it could be done, ge tin touch with juzzi / noelie or whoever is making ADP 2 now and ask them about it, could be a nice feature in ADP 2

:D

This would indeed be a nice feature for ADP2. However, don't expect it to come out soon. I'm working on various other projects, and next few weeks I'll focus on making a new version of my website. Destruction was taking over the project, but since his computer was formatted and he works on Display Picture Manager, I'm not sure whether he'll continue (gotta catch him on msn).

That's cool, your website rocked last time i went on there so making it even better will be amazing :D

haha, glad you liked the idea. I'll keep an eye out on the status of ADP2 :)

good luck with the site! (and by good luck, I meant good "skills")

Well, I have nothing to do these days, I might do a plugin about this

RE: periodically updated web image DP by matty on 07-21-2005 at 05:06 PM

Here you go.

Installation Instructions:

Unzip contents of zip to anywhere on the computer.
Run the Install.reg
Run the RegisterIDP.exe
Move IDP.dll to your Plus! Plugins directory (Normally found at C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus!3\Plugins)

Restart MSN.

This plugin uses Microsoft Internet Transfer Control 6.0 because I was too lazy to do anything else.

Also if you are using SPNG you are going to want to disable Oversized DPs.

If people are interested in the Source Code its in VB6 and I dont care enough about this to keep it secret so I can clean it up and comment it so people know whats going on if you are interested post a reply and I will post it.

That error get fixed by runing the files on the root folder, this means for the most of all in  c:\

Anyway after the good instalation plus doesn´t show any new plugin so it doesn't work form me neither.

if you notice there is no "/" after "Plugins", im guessing Matty forgot that or just missed that.

Plus you might want to put the dll in the plugin directory before you register it. Just and idea.

RE: periodically updated web image DP by matty on 07-23-2005 at 08:01 PM

Nope I didn't miss it at all. I will make a small installer for this when I get home from work and just post it.

RE: periodically updated web image DP by thinkamc on 07-31-2005 at 07:00 PM

In the plugins folder, i put the IDP.dll in a folder called "IDP", and it seems to have worked now.

By the way, thanks so much Matty!

RE: periodically updated web image DP by Veggie on 08-03-2005 at 11:09 AM

I got it working, and it works really well (y) a few suggestions though.
Can you make it delete old pictures as my display pictures fills up quite quickly?
possibly update DP on PSM or nick change?
