Hellllllo!

as promised two weeks ago, here is a very exciting news regarding Messenger Plus!. As many of you already know, since its creation, Messenger Plus! has always evolved side by side with MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger, without getting any interference from Microsoft. Our relationship was neither good nor bad; we had some chats from time to time but nothing particularly thorough. Well, all of this is about to change!

After all this time, the MSN team is now showing some positive interest for the add-on. MSN is currently looking for ways to work together with me "to give MSN Messenger users the best possible IM experience". To start things up on some solid ground, the MSN Messenger team has invited me to their headquarters in Redmond for a series of introductory meetings. I'll be there for a couple of days next week to explore common business opportunities which might exist between our two companies. Like it was the case last year with MSN France, MSN and I reiterate the fact that the purpose of the visit is not to shut down Messenger Plus! nor to buy it. Messenger Plus! is currently installed on 6.5 million of computers and shares the same user base as Messenger. Given this, we both think that we could gain something by working some more together.

That's all there is about it now, I'll post more about this whenever possible. The MSN team does care a lot of their users and that's something we can all be thankful for. In the meantime, rest assured that the development on Messenger Plus! will continue undisturbed (you'll soon get the new tabbed chat feature, don't worry ).

This is very good news MSG Plus is going to improve a lot and with Microsoft support...Things will get much easier i still rememebr the day when Patchou said he wasnt sure whether MSG PLus was going to work with MSN Messenger 6 or not... this makes me laugh now..

Glad to hear it, Patchou.  As long as MSN isnt looking to steal your features or trying to create a crappy implementation of them (like chat logging ) in MSN Messenger, I'm happy.

On what levels would there be cooperation?

Who u work on msn? Would they joint market the two products? Would they be bundled as one download?

And what would this mean for the sponsor program? MS isnt the greatest supporter of adware, regardless of its form.

Microsoft made it very clear that they do not wish to buy Messenger Plus in any way. It is more like a cooperation meeting they are having with Patchou

Hey everyone, I'm back

Everything went well, the people I met at MSN were very friendly and I had an overall very positive experience. They are all working very hard for you, be proud to be MSN Messenger users .

Here are some pictures from the trip:

Picture 1: one of the Microsoft buildings reserved for MSN
Picture 2: the one and only banner of importance
Picture 3: a view outside from the cafeteria... how could anybody refuse to work in such an environement?
Picture 4: a picture of Seattle
Picture 5: me being humilated on a big pig by some of the guys from MSN . Actually, this is supposed to be a "symbol" of Seattle, I should probably double check that fact.
Picture 6: some of us at the restaurant during the evening, they are all from MSN and they were all very nice. Next time I go there, I'll make sure to order the special salmon though (and some of this incredible chocolate cake).

Last but not least... don't ask me about anything I learnt there, I signed an NDA so I can't say anything, sorry (but for once, I can safely say I know things that Dwergs does not ).

Where does Mess.be imply that Patchou's talks with MSN had anything to do with Messenger 7.5 anyway?

They mention in the same post both that Patchou goes to Redmond AND that a Messenger 7.5 will be out to testers soon , but IIRC they never related them..

MS has put forward a proposal to give MSN users an option to plug in MSG Plus while installing (a later version )and patchou will recv royalty for each install . They have given a long list of conditions to Patchou to discuss with his lawyer...

Glad to see that you had fun, any chance that you met bill. Last time i went there was with my grandpa (he had some contacts in there) and we got to meet Bill , my gramps had coffee with him to be precise.

Before they realised that my gramps had an appointment, they thought that we were a security threat and all of a sudden there were security personnel everywhere, taking pics of us. It was an interesting experience nevertheless -_-;.

Great place tbh. did you see bill's house, its really sumthin.

What I've always wanted to know is what do the people at Microsoft think of Messenger Plus!? Do they think it's great? I want to know their opinions on it
