exactly, i doubt it will be increased. Who did you hear the rumor from?

I'm currently having lesssons and passed my theory and my driving instructor hasn't said anything about it to me.

Even if they did it wouldn't effect you, they'd have to do like a years notice or something.

They let them keep it... But then everybody in the future needs to be the raised age.

apparently, if the rumour is true people who send off for their provisional by August 2005 or October 2005 (i dont no which one :P) will be exempt from the law but anytime after that then they must wait till they hit 18 before gettin a full license

RE: UK Driving Age by mwe99 on 07-26-2005 at 08:29 PM

who did you hear it from? :S

RE: UK Driving Age by Reaper on 07-26-2005 at 08:33 PM

a mate of myn told me about it and he told me the month.  i forgot which month, so i looked on google and saw pages saying it was a rumour and saying that its real :S

RE: UK Driving Age by mwe99 on 07-26-2005 at 08:34 PM

Believe me, the media in the UK is extremely sensitive, if there was any sign of this happening there'd be debates on all our debate shows and the news would mention it and shun it down, the whole shebang!...The DVLA haven't said anything, so tbh, I don't think anything will happen.

RE: UK Driving Age by Stigmata on 07-26-2005 at 09:36 PM

i was told that the age was increasing..

if you were born in 1989 you can learn to drive at 17
and if you were born in 1990 you learn to drive at 18.

RE: RE: UK Driving Age by Anubis on 07-27-2005 at 08:04 AM

Driving Age Rumours - That website says how it was basically rumours, and why it isn't true; the obvious one being that the house of commons haven't even mentioned it.

Edit:In fact when I looked into it, the last plan with driving age limits was to lower it to 16, however the plan was rejected about 2-3 years ago. Since then no official plans have been given, and no unofficial ones have leaked in any shape.

Also here is the current law in the UK on driving

You cannot start to drive a car until your provisional driving licence has been accepted and in your possession. If you are in receipt of the higher rate of disability, you can start to learn how to drive when you reach your 16th Birthday otherwise you will have to wait until your 17th Birthday.

i rekon if they did that it would put the instructors out of their main customers for a year which would suck for them
RE: UK Driving Age by Rubber Stamp on 07-27-2005 at 01:09 PM
