wireless optical mouse by Exca on 08-05-2005 at 08:05 PM

Hi, i just bought this wireless rechargable optical mouse, it comes with some sort of docking station where you can recharge the mouse, and you need 2*1300mAH rechargeable batteries to use it. This is the first time i'm having an optical mouse so i don't know anything about it so i have a few questions: i noticed that if i don't use the mouse, it starts flikking, fast. If i leave it alone for a longer time it starts flikking slowly and finally it falls out, then you have to press a button to reactivate it. Now i assume that's for power-saving. I wondered how long this mouse survives on it's batteries. You can turn the mouse off tough if you press the connect-button for some seconds but how in the worst case... how long can you do with it?

It's a mouse from ednet...

well its a good mouse.. and yes the light flicking is the power saving.. and ur mouse working depends on the power of the batteries.. mine works for mainly 30 hours without turning it off..

30 hours is not much, and you can only charge when the pc is on right :S i have read a thread where people work up to 6 months with a wireless optical mouse...

my mouse lasts a few hours on crappy battaries, and up to about 3 months on good duracell battaries. (logitech cordless click plus. currently sitting on my desk requiring new battaries :P)
but i dunno how long your mouse would last using its own rechargeable battaries. i think some mice have a base station that can be plugged into your wall outlet and usb.

I hate the charger my logitech mouse came with , so i keep 4 battries always charging then when the ones in my mouse die I just swap them :)
but they last 2-3 days each.

I just bought a good mouse :P
Logitech MX1000, I just put it in docking station when I goto sleep and it'll charge ;)
And I've forgot to charge for 3 days, without any problems, dunno if it can stand longer :P
But hell, it rocks!

Well i'll have to get used to mine tough, i used to work with a small low mouse which i holded with my fingers, this one is big and high, and really pushes fully in my hand, my palm hurts but i guess its just because i'll have to get used to it...

EDIT: the mouse on my desktop is a trackball wireless mouse, that one lasts certainly 2 to 3 months on it's batteries, who are two 750mAh and the mouse power consumption is 50mA...

The optical mouse has two 1300mAh batteries and uses 60mA... If I compare it seems normal it will last longer than 3 days right?
