my computer keeps making this funny noise....

it doesn't always do it but its been happening more frequently...

its coming from one of the fans i think. i've use compressed gas to clear anything that might be caught and making the noise but that didn't work....

its the big cube shaped fan connected to my motherboard which is making the noise.

would this have a fan belt? because it sounds like its a fan belt slipping...

ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated.....

EDIT: i've established its my graphics card's fan... ive moved the tower and seen the fan is actually wobbling at one point. i was in the middle of recording the noise and then it just fixed itself...

doubt its a permanent solution... what should i do?

Sounds like the processor fan. If it is diffinatly coming from there i don't think it's worth messing about fixing it. Buy a new one.

But first what type of noise is it? Squeeking? Grinding?

I'd guess its either coming from the powerbox fan or the hard drive. From the processor fan? It could be, but if so, its a lot more serious

If the temps of your CPU are higher then 40 when first starting up (you can check in the CMOS Setup) then it might be the processor fan.

nah my temperatures are all below 40....

its not that the fan is broken... it still moves at high speed, just the noise it makes... lol

ts like a grinding sound normally but rarely it does squeek... (not past 2 days, been happening 3)

it could be the Fan Below the Power Supply thats Rubbing up against somehting. i had this happen to me old PC ,, soon as i opened the box. an removed that Fan. the noise was gone

i've just worked out it is the fan on my graphics card... i didnt gas that one... im gonna have to buy some and try....

what elkse cud it be?

Is it a new graphics card? I it isn't that old i would get in contact with the supplier becuase if it is newish then it shouldn't be wobbling.

I had that problem...I suggest regreasing it and cleaning it...air the whole inside out

i recorded the noise it made and edited so u could hear it without having the speakers on stupidly high...

I'm going to buy a heatsink cooler for my graphics card in a few days.

what will that do? lol

its my fan making the bloody noise so add another fan? lol

is there anyway to fix this?
