Randomly Lose Connection by prashker on 08-10-2005 at 10:19 PM

Hi all

When i go on the net I have a wireless PCI Adapter that connects to my broadband modem wirelessly... (sorry cant get screenshots) at the botom of my pc is a Computer With A Green Monitor. When its green it means im connected when red im disconnected. The other one looks like a PC to except the green moves around and there is a red X when its disconnected.

Usually after 10-15 min i lose my connection. I click the repair buttion and i get the first PC thing to go green but the second one still says im disconnected for some reason. And then i lose my connection again and its a neverending loop. This just started like 4 hours ago.

Someone help me... Thanks In Advance

EDIT: I get disconected yet my dads pc and bros stay connected.

Its a Linksys Wireless WMP11

my suggestion is to try and update the drivers for all your connections...see if that works

If it doesn't work here is what i suggest.

first turn off every computer/laptop using the internet...
once that is done I want you to the rest in specific order

  1. unplug the power to your modem.
  2. unplug the power to your rooter
  3. unplug the cable going into your modem [tv looking one]
  4. unplug the phone looking cable comming from your modem
  5. wait aprox. 10 minutes for everything to cool down
  6. plug the phone looking cable back in, followed by the tv looking cable
  7. plug your modem back in
  8. once the cable light has turned on, look at it until it flashes for the first time after that
  9. once you have had that flash, plug in your rooter. wait untill all the lights have come back to normal
  10. turn on the computer that had the problem.
    [/list]

I cannot garantee this will work however there is a good chance that it does. if it does not I can't help you further
