Forum Suggestion [Very Important] by zaher1988 on 08-11-2005 at 01:04 PM

Well hey.

It' just a suggestion for an update that should be made in the forum.

Well as you post a thread people should see it in the top list and by the time and by the increasing of threads number your thread will be down in the bottom, so if no one recognized your thread and u got no answer you have to remind people of it that's by getting it back to the top list, and to do that you should post a reply, and what if i were the last replied , then you will have double post, at this time guys who like to let people see that they follow the rules and fight for them, will come and say hey boy watch your double post you have to edit you post, but we all know that editting a post wont send it back to the top of the list such as posting a reply.

so my suggestion , that when you edit a post it should be like replying to it, the post should come up to the top of the list.

hope i was clear, and hope you will understand me:)

Actually if your thread doesnt have any replies then there is an option called "show unanswered threads" at the bottom of the page for people to check your thread out. Regular forum helpers check that out every now and then (by the pace of this forum ... i'd say quite soon wrt other forums ;))
If it has been a long time (72 hours approx ... according to the forum admins) and you havent recieved an answer then you can post in it again to "bump" up the thread. Its ok in that case if you double post ... just say that you didnt get an answer hence you are bumping you thread up again ;)

The thing is, most of us read all pages. You won't get a reply right away, because a forum is not a chat room. Just have patience.

A quick tip: copy your previous message, delete it, and post a new one, adding the old message text. This will cause a bump without double posting.

And about the rules, well, they're there and must be followed. No exceptions. (y)

People don't mention the rules to be mean, just to help you get the best experience on the forums and not to get in trouble with admins and mods that can get tired of merging/moving/deleting your posts.

Yes, even if you're the last one to reply. The time between double-posts must be justified. Or you can do what I told you before.

You can post before that but thats against the rules.
Do what regexp said. Post once (ie it will cause the double post but if you make a double post then copy the last message that you typed and then edit your previous post and put it there :))

Meh i made it confusing .... just do what regexp said ;)

There are a few things that i think you must read apart from the rules. They take about 5 - 10 mins in total but will make you understand what are the do's and the donts. Apart from that if you dont understand any point then the members here will be glad to clarify your problem.

My must reads are :-
Post reporting guidelines

Community Behaviour and Spam

User titles/stars

And well ..... the rules if you havent already read them ;)

UPDATE:
I forgot to tell you. You can find any of these threads at anytime under the forum named Forum And Website as they are made stickies there meaning that they shall always remain on the top there ;)

Also if you need any help in using the features of the forum then you can click the help link which lies beside the log out, shoutbox and rules options :)

It depends on the content of the other post (not yours). If it wasn't helpful or what you needed, it could be considered unanswered.

That would suck... people could edit as much as they want to get unfair attention for their threads. :dodgy:

And when people like me who refresh the Latest Posts page often see your thread at the top and click on it, they will be annoyed that there isn't actually anything new to read. :p
RE: Forum Suggestion [Very Important] by zaher1988 on 08-12-2005 at 07:41 AM

on then what about a Reminder option, with different criterias (options) like Not recognized , No answer, No solution. and you can add this to the Rules so if someone  make a reminder for his post and choose for example No answer and that wasn't true, then he is breaking the rules just like a double post.

Hope you like it :)
