I have only tried Linux Ubuntu.  It was okay, but I prefer windows.  You should add Mac OSX into this poll;)

Because we haven't tried both.

I run Windows XP Home Edition at home and use a badly foobared Windows XP Professional at school. I've tried Mandrake 9.2 for a while but killed it when i reformatted, and spent a few minutes in Ubuntu in The Open CD.

Windows - Good all round workhorse.  You know that buying this you have joined millions of other people.  Provided you aren't stupid it's a very stable & reliable operating system.

SUSE Linux 9.3 - Not for your average PC User and by far NOT the best Distro of Linux you can get.  Try looking at Gentoo (if you are more advanced) or Ubuntu/Kubuntu for the middle of the road users.  Novice Linux users should start out with Mandriva for the most part.

Mac OSX - Well, overpriced hardware (Mac Mini's cost about $283 to make) and not exactly a average user OS (for that Windows is better).  Good for Image/Video Editing, not great for gaming though.
